Bio

A journey of rediscovery

My name is John ‘Taz’ Herrman, I was born in 1978 in a central Kansas farming community. I loved colors, images, words, and nature growing up, but slowly those creative instincts were pushed aside for more productive, logical and financially viable interests. Recently I’ve started reconnecting to the creative force within me (and all of us I believe).

and acceptance…

Turns out it wasn’t only my creative spark that was dampened growing up. My queerness was also explained away along with denial of my neurodivergence. Integrating my Trans identity, my autism and my inner artist has been a wild ride over the last 5 years.

Where I work

I recently spent the last 18 months slowly transforming my basement into a creative haven.

What I enjoy

I am still early on my artist journey. I am primarily self taught and still trying to find my style and voice.
What I do know is I love color, I love contrast and love exploring possibilities.

Influences

I grew up in the 80s & 90s so PBS shows like Imagination Station and Joy of Painting are fond memories along with Video Games, Anime and Comics.

Events

I am a Divine Expression of Creativity!
